New Yorkers working on that Great American Novel can converge at Word for the bookstore’s regular Just Working on My Novel event where budding writers can read from their unfinished works (5-10 min. readings). Tonight’s pre-Valentine’s theme is broken hearts (stories of love and heartbreak), with hosting duties performed by Andrew Shaffer, author of Great Philosophers Who Failed at Love. Fly on over to Brooklyn to find out who has the best wings in the borough! Should be some messy good fun with free wings available after the start time of 2 p.m., Red Star, 37 Greenpoint Avenue (corner of West Street), free!


Hopefully more fun than an evening at Ford’s Theater, the Municipal Arts Society is celebrating Lincoln’s 202nd birthday with the “In the Footsteps of Abraham Lincoln Walking Tour.” Stops include Barnum’s American Museum, and other places associated with the 16th president and his first lady such as including “City Hall, Mathew Brady’s daguerreotype studio, the Haughwout Department Store, as well as theaters, saloons and related amusements.” Meet at the south end of City Hall Park, where Broadway and Park Row converge. 2 p.m., $15.


When you have your “pick” of museum exhibits today, keep in mind that the Picasso: Guitars 1912–1914 exhibit opens today at MOMA (thru June 6, 2011.)


Ponder just how many songs are on your iPod as you watch a free screening of Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist! 2 p.m., Sony Wonder Technology Lab, 550 Madison Ave. (near 56th St.), show is free, but call (212) 833-7858 for reservations.

If you don’t see enough couples canoodling on the subway, search out more natural public displays of affection with a hunt for cardinal couples in Van Cortlandt Park with the Urban Park Rangers, 8 a.m., Van Cortlandt Park Nature Center, in the Bronx behind Pelham Bay, (some directions from the park website: The northern terminus of the IRT #1 train at W. 242nd Street is near the Parade Ground. The IRT #4 train’s last stop at Woodlawn serves the park’s southeastern area, free!
