Cheap Chick NYC - Cheap and Free Valentine's Day 2011 Guide!

What could be more romantic than celebrating Valentine's Day in NYC? I don't know, after all it's where Harry "met" Sally! There were so many great events for both couples and singletons, that I couldn't resist compiling a guide to all that's sweet about romance in the city! What did people do before Hallmark? Find out for yourself at the Merchant’s House Museum’s latest special exhibit, "19th Century Valentines – Confections of Affection," which features homemade cards from the museum’s collection and the earliest mass-produced cards! the Museum is open 12 to 5 p.m., Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The exhibit is included with the regular admission price of $10!

I bet Martha Stewart never stopped by your elementary school art class! Today you have the chance to make your own vintage-inspired valentine with staff members from the domestic diva’s magazine! Spend a cozy “crafternoon” making cards at the NYPL. 2 p.m. (doors open at 1:45 p.m.) to 4 p.m., Stephen A.
